INTRODUCTION
Retro Engineering Ltd is not just a motorcycle workshop, it is a Vintage Motorcycle Workshop. The owner Tim Barry has a passion for older machines some of which are so old most people haven’t heard of.
Over the years Tim has worked on quite a few motorcycles, like:
- Restoration of a 1942 Indian Scout
- Rebuild of a 1935 Ariel Red Hunter
- Restoration of a 1951 AJS - from three boxes of parts
- Restoration of an Army Indian - also from boxes
- Restoration of a 1965 Triumph Saint
- Several other breeds have had Tim’s attention as well including: BSA Bantams, LE Velocette, WLA Harley Davidson, Triumph Bonneville, and Norton Commando
- Maintenance and repair work to more modern motorcycle of the 50s through to 70s although the odd 2000 models have popped up.
The work involved on these bikes varies from cosmetic to electrical and mechanical.
Some of the projects Tim worked on came from an old barn where all had been stored for over 20 years. After a strip down and getting some 'new' old parts Tim managed to rebuild this machine into a beautiful looking vintage motorcycle.
Tim works from his workshop in Whangarei where skills involved to do his work came from his previous engineering trade which entailed fitting and turning, welding, electrical, and instrument fitter.
Do you have a motorcycle that needs to be rebuild, restored, you require parts that you can not buy anywhere else, give us a call, mostlikely we can help you!
